Vwaza National Park - Birdlife

Vwaza is noted for its rich birdlife, including a variety of water and riverine species. Of the larger mammals, buffalo, elephant, hippopotamus and species of antelope should be seen even on a short visit. Records show sittings of some 270 species of birds. Included in the list are stork, heron and the white faced tree duck. Various types of eagle and falcon also find their prey here. The best viewing is along the water courses and near the pools and marsh. There is no particular season when viewing is the best. A visit any time during year is rewarding.
