The biggest and most important agricultural product in Malawi is tobacco. While majority of Malawians do not smoke, tobacco is export product number one and it is the main source of foreign currency. President Mrs. Joyce Banda tries to decrease Malawi dependence on one culture due to decreased consumption falling prices of this commodity in the world market.

Besides many ox carts, occasionally there is a donkey cart as well.

Goats of all colours are among most common domestic animals in Malawi.

85% of Malawians live in a rural area.

Big herd of cows are common scenery when you are out of town.
Drivers need to be very careful in Malawi, because herds are almost always close to the road.
