Yesterday I came from Joburg (Johannesburg) to Lilongwe, capital of Malawi. The first impression of the country is excellent. The country is lush and green and people are friendly and helpful. The temperature, when I came around noon, was over 20 C and sunny. It felt a little bit humid, however not too much. I was also pretty much dressed up since my brain was still set up at 0 C temperature on Friday evening in Toronto, when I left Canada.

Austin from Abt Associates in Lilongwe took three volunteers and Beryl, a nice lady from Cape Town who is going to be our coordinator, to the restaurant Sanctuary Lodge. Food was pretty good and location was so hidden that only people from Lilongwe could take you there. The entrance is on the side road, there is a big metal gate for the cars and the parking was completely dark. It was really worth it. Food was delicious and prices were moderate (for North American standard). Photos of the place would be coming soon....
